Availability of CocoaHeads Videos

It looks like we put up some pretty big numbers for video downloads in the last few weeks, and the host throttled our connections. We're looking at other options, but the videos should be available on via torrents. There are also mirrors here and here.

Thanks to everyone who has mirrored or contributed to the torrents.

Hey Scott! I just want to add that if you do need help seeding on torrents, I could totally volunteer my 100mbit server for a terabyte or two every month in the future. I just..didn't know about the existence of the torrents this time. :(

hi,

I was trying to download the UI Design Essentials video but with no luck. Any chance that there will be a mirror or torrent for this video, too?
The torrent for Introduction to Cocoa worked very well...

I am not surprised at the amount of interest.

I have been seeding.

Do you know if there is a torrent for:
1. UI Design Essentials
2. Core Animation Intro

I have been trying to get the videos from these nights. I am looking for ways to expand my knowledge in cocoa. I'm just starting out and sometimes apples developer materials don't explain things well enough so I like having videos like these on hand.

Very good presentation, very useful.

Thanks for sharing.

You should check out LibSyn. They're pretty cheap and they offer unlimited bandwidth. http://libsyn.com

Scott,

Thanks for the videos!

Just regarding torrents - its dead easy. Get the Transmission client. Then create a torrent file of the videos you want to share using Transmission. Use a free public tracker (in the future you could even host your own tracker on theocacao.com).

Then just post the torrent file in the blog post and voila.

I've been downloading the video at 700KB/s on bittorrent, about 5 times faster than the webserver.

PS: it is great to see that the swarm is overwhelmingly Transmission users!

Ugh, transmission might be nice but the client has issues and lately is getting banned/unbanned/banned (repeat a few times) by a lot of trackers. I'd recommend getting latest rtorrent instead..I figure a cli client won't be too complicated for the people here? ;)

Seeded 32gb since I last commented, can't imagine what kind of demand there was for the videos earlier on..

But yes, a torrent for all the videos is something I'd be glad to seed on, please make torrents available!

Does anybody has a link to the torrents?

When Edward Tufte's site got overloaded because of the interest in his review of the iPhone user interface, he switched to hosting his videos on vimeo.

FWIW.

Hello everyone, I have been working with Scott and we are very close to offering a torrent for The Best of Both Worlds in HD, that's the full size version, all 2.6GB. We also have a torrent for Scott's UI Design Essentials from April.

Before we offer them publicly, we are looking for a couple of folks to help seed the files. If you are interested in helping please email me at fraser at renewedheart dot org, and I'll send you the torrent files. We'll probably need no more than 3 or 4 more seeds. Once we have those seeds, I'll post another comment in this thread, with links to the torrent files.

Not that it will help as much as the 100mbit lines but i have FIOS 20/20 and would be willing to seed to help. Generally I can seed at 2-2.4 MB/s

That's always appreciated. I haven't orchestrated any of the actual seeding, but I assume you have what you need? Thanks again.
