Interpret as You Will

This is the second Incredibles story I've read that casts the movie into a particular political role.

Now, I haven't talked to the director personally, but I think it's a bit presumptuous to say that just because we have superheroes in an action movie saving lives, it must mean it favors a particular type of politics.

"The Incredibles is red state through and through. It opens with a pro-life condemnation of suicide and goes on to attack tort lawyers, whose powers Bush promised to curtail during the election campaign."

I'm speechless. Here the article references another article:

The John Kerry-sympathising New York Observer lamented: “It’s very much in the eye of the beholder but at the moment, to the butt-kicked, discouraged liberal team, the Pixar-built, shiny, muscle-bound cartoon creatures seem to come very much from the other team.”

It is indeed in the eye of the beholder. Does anyone stop to consider where Pixar is based?

It might be that the mainstream media has made such a business out of polarizing politics that everything is seen through that lens now, even by members of the press themselves. I mean, what if respresentatives of respective parties actually got along in public? What would the cable news stations put on the air?

Would people still be thinking this if the Incredibles wore blue? :)
