What I'm Thankful for Is Simple

Some people are blogging about what they're thankful for, often things like family members and prosperity. I'm thankful for Thanksgiving itself, which gives us a socially-acceptable space to step back from all the day-to-day craziness and competition and be kind to each other for no reason at all. We need more days each year like this.

We don't have Thanksgiving here in the UK - I think we need something like it.

Just be nice to each other for no reason at all. Why would you need a special day for it? - I don't get it.

Neither do I. But you can really see the difference when you're out among people during Thanksgiving or Christmas. People are much more polite, willing to help, and so on.
