Cocoa Mentoring Update
So it turns out people are pretty excited about this Cocoa mentoring program. I want to give a few updates and clarifications. First of all, the service is not only national, but international! So far, I've worked with folks in Canada, Germany and Ireland (as well as different places in the U.S.). Yeah, it's the internet so it's not that big of a deal, but still. The minimum charge is one hour, and time is charged a half hour at a time. The basic flow of the first session is I get to know what you're looking to accomplish, what your current level of knowledge is, and what project you're currently working on, if any. After that, we get down to business.
At least one person has asked me about a discount for students. I actually priced this into the basic rate to keep things simple. It's too complicated to figure out who is and is not a student, and that's a status that is easily changed anyhow. I think $85/hr is a fair rate.
I call it "Cocoa Help," but the topics aren't necessarily limited to Foundation, AppKit and Core Data. Core Foundation, Quartz, and so on are available for discussion too. It's possible that for more advanced topics, I might have to ask for a higher fee, but this hasn't come up yet.

$85.00/hour for your mentoring has been the best recent investment that I have made.
Thanks very much for your help and guidance.

It would be nice that everything learned and teached could serve the community.
It could be through a book or via a knowledge base that might be free or more realistically available for a small fee.
Don't you think? :)

I've considered something like this, but the basic issue is that I have bills to pay. Giving everything away for free makes doing that pretty hard.
There's already a ton of free material here and on Cocoa Dev Central.
